Basil Gimlet

I recently started an AeroGarden, and the Thai and Genovese basil have been going wild. I had to prune some and had an idea.

The Basil Gimlet is actually a modern classic (dead simple too) popularized in San Francisco by Greg Lindgren owner/bartender of the bar Rye.

Limes are not always the same…my lime today was HUGE and TART. So, I needed to actually up the sweetener from original spect to achieve balance.

Basil Gimlet
2oz Junipero gin
1oz fresh lime juice
3/4oz simple syrup
5 basil leaves.

Muddle basil in the bottom of your shaker. Add all ingredients and shake with ice and fine strain into a coupe. Garnish with a basil leaf. Refreshing and delicious.
