Martinez

This classic cocktail is one of my absolute favorites! It first appeared in print in 1884’s “The Modern Bartender’s Guide” by O.H. Byron, but it strongly believed to predate that publication. Also, believed to have first been made with Dutch genever and then eventually Old Tom gin. I love the simplicity of preparation but that it still delivers a great deal of complexity.

Martinez

1.5oz Ransom Old Tom Gin

1.5oz Carpano Classico vermouth

0.25oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur

2 dashes Dashfire Spiced Apple bitters

1/2 dash The Bitter Truth Bogar’s bitters

Stir all ingredients with ice, and strain into a chilled coupe/Nick & Nora glass. Garnish with an Amarena cherry.
